Girdwood Chamber of Commerce

Girdwood Chamber of Commerce was founded in 2002 to bring local businesses together to form one voice for legislative representation and marketing purposes. In 2020, the GCC adopted and registered with the State of Alaska the name Visit Girdwood for marketing purposes.

GCC develops and publishes annually the Visitor Map and Brochure for the people visiting Girdwood. We advertise and conduct an outreach program to entice tourists coming to Alaska to make plans that involve visiting Girdwood. We manage a local website that includes business members, community organizations, and activities in and around Girdwood. We conduct training sessions for local businesses and host activities in Girdwood on behalf of Visit Anchorage, Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, and the Alaska Travel and Tourism Industry. We also advocate to local government representatives (Assembly, State Senate, State House and GBOS) on issues important to our membership.

Mission Statement

The Girdwood Chamber of Commerce promotes economic growth through a commitment to preserve the quality of community life, through the development of partnerships that create sustainable foundations for future opportunities that benefit the businesses and residents of Girdwood.

Meetings, Events, and Newsletter

Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 9:00 am. The location changes, but all meetings use video and teleconference technology to connect our members to the meetings. Invites are sent to businesses via email.

Newsletters are sent to business emails, along with a draft of the latest meeting minutes, to keep members updated. GCC hosts workshops related to small business ownership and marketing throughout the year.

Membership

Membership lasts for a calendar year, from January 1st to December 31st. Membership and advertising drives for the next year happen in October, and the printed Map & Business Directory is finalized throughout the final quarter and published in late December for the full membership year. Website listings and advertising can be purchased at any time throughout the membership year.
